Have you seen the Students Without Borders website lately?  It's up and running so check it out to see what campaigns are running and what you can get involved with - www.studentswithoutborders.com.au

Here's a taster:

Sunday 14th October - JET Rally at Kings Sq, Fremantle 12pm.   The Government has taken away childcare assistance for single-parents who are studying courses that last more than 12 months.  This means that many single-parents can no longer afford to go to uni and so they can't afford a better standard of living for their children.  Come down on Saturday to show John Howard that single-parents have your support, and they deserve his too!

Monday 15th - Friday 19th October - Sustainability Week.   This event is being held on campus but is open to everyone.  Each day will have a separate theme with seminars, films, tours and activities.  Gold coin donation to go towards funding solar panels to provide sustainable energy on campus.  To find out what's on visit

Tuesday 16th October - Green Transport Breakfast.  Leave your car at home for the day and enjoy a yummy breakfast outside the tavern from 8.00 - 9.30am - sausages, fruit salad, muffins, pancakes (gold coin donation).  This is part of Sustainability Week.

Wednesday 17th October - Stand Up Against Poverty.
The Art of Living Foundation are organising an event in Perth and are inviting everyone to get involved.  All you need to do is turn up to help break last year's Guinness World Record for the number of people around the world standing up to call for an end to poverty.  This event is being held at Perth Foreshore (cnr Barrack St & Riverside Dr) from 5.30-6.30pm.

Friday 19th October - Sundowner.  Come down to the Tav from 4.30pm til late to help celebrate the end of Sustainability Week.  Tickets are $12 from the Guild Shop and include your first drink and some great entertainment.

Logo/Poster Competition - see details at the end of this e-mail.

Volunteers needed...

If you can help out during Sustainability Week, we need volunteers to help serve food at the Green Transport Breakfast, and people to help at the sausage sizzle on the Friday at the Sundowner...

Language tutors needed...

Is Russian your first language?  We need a tutor who can spare 1.5 hours on a Saturday morning to teach a Russian language and culture class.  You will be paid $2 from each student.

Can you speak Hebrew?  Or Greek?

If you can help with any of the above, let me know at swb@guild.murdoch.edu.au
